Thanks to WPSpublish.com for the infographic: this graphic.
WPS Publish creates content for school psychologists, teachers, psychiatrists and academics. It focuses on content for those providing services or dealing with autism, learning disabilities and other challenges. They’ve created an infographic revealing the shifting landscape school psychologists. For example, it outlines the increases work load school psychologists face from rising child poverty, limited resources available for external referrals, the growing share of mentally unhealthy children due to poverty and the breakdown of the family. This means counselors have more kids in need of help and less time to help them. It certainly doesn’t help that they’re trying to keep up with changing best practices and increasing bureaucracy, too. Demand for school psychologists has never been greater. Yet they have the highest student to counselor ratio seen in years. Nor has technology eliminated the need for testing and counseling. In fact, social media contributes to anxiety and depression, and that’s not factoring cyber-bullying into the equation. Click here for more information.
