From cuddling with you on the couch to jumping into a dirt pile, fully clothed in their Sunday’s best – they’re quite unpredictable. Which leaves us constantly in for a surprise!

A few tips for boy moms that stand the truth of time are:
He will always be a “busy body.”
You know the saying, “boys will be boys?” Well, that saying wasn’t in vein – boys will be boys, that is a simple truth. They are energetic, rough and rowdy. While they might be playing in the mud right outside your kitchen window right now and you are wondering how you will get through the day, just remember, he is being himself. He is happy and healthy and most importantly, he is having fun. While you might not realize it, letting his imagination run and his hands get dirty is the best thing you can do for him. He is changing the world out in that mud pile, one scoop of mud at a time.
You are not a bad mom.
More than likely, you will be making at least one – if not multiple – trips to the emergency room. This does not make you a bad mom, it makes you a boy mom. Unlike most girls, boys are fearless. They become superheroes in their little minds and think they can jump off the top of the playground equipment without breaking a bone – even though you will soon find out that isn’t true. As a boy mom, an emergency room trip is almost like the right of passage to your chosen sorority in college.
Prepare to be peed on at some point.
While he is in diapers, it will spray. You will probably have pee on your shirt, or even on your face at some point. And eventually, it will migrate to everywhere else in the house. Don’t be surprised if you catch him peeing off the front porch. Boys like to show what they can do and being able to just stop and pee anywhere they are is one of their specialties.
Love him as hard as he loves you.
While he will drive you insane the majority of the time, that little rough housing boy will love you deeper than you ever dreamed. The relationship between a mother and her son is a bond that cannot be broken. He will be the first to give you a hug after a bad day and comfort you when you just need love.
Just remember mamas, while you might be tired and beat down now, he won’t be little forever. One day that mud pie making, truck playing, little superhero will grow up and become a man. He will have his own family one day and then it will be his turn to clean up the messes. You will always be a boy mom, but enjoy it to the full extent while you have your boy right at home with you!
